The “Barksdale” – Two Story House Design

The model in this home tour today is a two story farmhouse style home with a grand front porch and a beautiful interior design. It has a first floor master and plenty of space for a growing family!

The “Barksdale” – Two Story House Design Exterior
This two story house design is breathtaking from the outside to the inside! On the exterior there is this beautiful white vinyl siding that wraps all the way around the home. On the front of the home, is a large, covered porch. It goes from one end to the other and is big enough to fit a beautiful porch swing, as well as, several rocking chairs. On both the first and second floor there are plenty of windows that peer out the front of the home.
As you work your way around to the back of the house, again, you will find several more windows on both the first and second floor. There is also a beautiful siding glass door that comes out of the dining room.
Here would be a great spot to put another extra-large porch to match the front. This would be great and help create a perfect hangout spot for you, your family and your friends.
Then moving your way around to the far side of the home, there is a doorway that leads out of the utility room. Here you could add a garage to give the home a little bit more functionality and some nice curb appeal too.
Inside This Two Story House Design
Stepping through the front door, you are greeted with a beautiful two story foyer that has a nice stair well wrapping up to the second floor.
From the foyer, the home immediately opens into a beautiful living area. It sits on the front side of the house with several windows that provide a little bit of light, looking out onto the porch.
The room is very expansive with several opportunities to arrange furniture in a variety of ways.
It also has a nice corner that would be perfect for an entertainment center.
From the living room you can transition into the beautiful kitchen that is inside of this modular home. In the middle sits a unique island with plenty of curves and turns on the counter. There are also cabinets on either end of the island.
On the living room side there are two spaces for some nice high-top stools. Around on the kitchen side, you will find some great big pot and pan drawers that just get bigger as you move around the island. Hanging down over the top there are also two nice pendant lights.
Beyond the island, you will come to the main counter surface which is in the shape of an “L”. To the right, There is the stove and built-in microwave sitting just above it and plenty of cabinets and drawers.
Along the back wall, sitting just below a beautiful window, is the sink, along with the dishwasher. Then all the way to the right of the kitchen, is the refrigerator.
The Dining Room
To the right of the kitchen is the dining room. It is a nice, big space with plenty of room for a great big dining room table and a nice hutch or buffet style table. Definitely get some decorations up and just make this dining room nice and cozy.
Sitting just behind the dining room table, is a nice sliding glass door like I mentioned earlier that could lead out onto a big old back porch.
This would just be a great spot to entertain and hang out with friends and family.
The Master Bedroom
Just passed the dining room, you enter a small hallway that leads down towards the master bedroom and a half bath. The half bath sits on the backside of the home and is one of the larger ones that I have ever seen.
Most of the time you see half bathrooms that are super narrow with pedestal on one side and the toilet on the other. This one however, has the toilet sitting right next to the vanity! So plenty of arm room if you know what I mean.
Across the hall from that, you do enter the master suite which sits up towards the front of the house. I do like the fact that this is the first-floor master. Less up and down stairs!
The master bedroom does have two large windows looking out towards the front of the home and is very spacious measuring in at approximately 13ft 8in X 16ft 3in. Enough room for a large king size bed, a dresser and plenty of other pieces of furniture.
The Master Bathroom
Within the master bedroom, you will find the entrance into the en-suite. In here there is a beautiful double vanity with those nice light up mirrors along with a fantastic soaking tub in the back corner.
I was quite excited about this soaking tub, because it has a high backrest on it and long enough for someone my height to sit in and stretch out. So that is fun.
Then, as you round the corner, you will find the toilet and a beautiful walk-in shower with a nice tile surround. It also has a rainfall shower-head and a removable shower-head.
Finally, the closet here in the bathroom sits just behind the door leading into the en-suite. It features several nice built-ins and plenty of shelves to hang and place your clothes.
The Utility Room
Lastly, on the main floor, back across the kitchen, is a doorway that leads into the utility room. This sits on the left side of the house as you are looking at it and features a nice big closet along with the washer and dryer hookups. There is also a washbasin and the cute little built-in sitting next to the side door.
Secondary Bedrooms and Bathroom
Working your way up to the second floor, the stairway wraps around to reveal a second living space. This would make for a great game room for the kids or another living space. Now they can watch movies, and just have their own little area to hang out.
Up here on the second floor, you will also find 3 secondary bedrooms. All of which are great big rooms with plenty of space for several different pieces of furniture, including nice large beds.
The first of the three sits up towards the front of the house and measures in at 15ft 10in X 13ft 2in. It has a nice window that provides plenty of natural light and a closet that is bigger than any I have seen in other secondary bedrooms.
The two other bedrooms sit on the back end of the home and are close to the same size. They measure in at 13ft 6in X 13ft 2in and 13ft 6in X 12ft 1in respectively.
Both of them have windows looking out towards the back of the home and are separated by a full bathroom.
