11 Things Every New Blogger Should Know

Blogs! We all have them, or want one, and we’re all new at some point. So I thought I would compile a list of things that every new blogger should know before starting their blog journey. Buckle up, it’s about to get real in here.

1. What are blogs?

A blog is a website where people share their opinions, thoughts, and ideas on a variety of topics. The word “blog” is a shortened version of the word “weblog,” which is a term used to describe websites that keep an ongoing record of information.

Blogs are usually maintained by individuals, but they can also be created by businesses or organizations. Most blogs are organized chronologically, with the newest information appearing at the top of the page.

Many blogs also allow readers to leave comments or give their own opinions on the topics being discussed. Whether you’re looking for information on a specific topic or just want to see what others are saying about the world around us, blogs can be a great way to get started.

2. Is it too late to start a blog?

If you’re reading this, it’s not too late to start a blog. In fact, you’re probably in the perfect position to do so. You see, most people who start blogs never actually get around to writing their first blog post. They get caught up in planning and researching and agonizing over every little detail.

But you, my friend, have already taken the first and most important step: you’ve decided to just go for it. So congratulations!  Now all you need to do is sit down and write your first blog post. It doesn’t matter what it’s about; just pick something that interests you and start writing.

The important thing is to just get started. Once you’ve written that first post, the rest will be easy.

3. How to make money blogging

Making money blogging is easy! Just follow these simple steps:

1. Find a niche market. This is the group of people who will be most interested in reading your blog. It could be other bloggers, small business owners, or stay-at-home moms or dads.

2. Figure out what they want to read about. This is where keyword research comes in handy. Use tools like Google AdWords Keyword Planner to find out what topics are popular in your niche market.

3. Write blog posts that are helpful and informative. Don’t try to sell anything just yet – you want to build up trust with your readers first.

4. Add affiliate links to your blog posts. These are links to products or services that you recommend, and if someone clicks on them and makes a purchase, you earn a commission.

5. Promote your blog on social media and other online platforms. The more people who know about your blog, the more traffic you’ll get, and the more chances you’ll have to make money!

4. How to start a blog for cheap

So, you want to start a blog but you don’t want to spend a lot of money. Well, you’re in luck! Starting a blog for cheap is actually pretty easy – all you need is a computer and an internet connection. For less than the cost of a cup of coffee, you can have your very own blog up and running in no time.

Just follow these simple steps:

★ Choose a platform: there are many different blog platforms out there, but some of the most popular (and cheapest) include WordPress and Blogger.

★ Find a host: once you’ve chosen your platform, you’ll need to find a host for your blog. This is where your blog will live on the internet. Again, there are many options available, but some of the cheapest include shared hosting providers like Bluehost and HostMonster. We use and recommend Bluehost. They are $4.95 a month with fantastic support. You really can’t beat them to start. But both are great hosting providers.

★ Pick a domain name: this is the address that people will type into their browser to visit your blog (for example, www.example.com). You can usually register a domain name through your hosting provider. (Bluehost offers this as well and they make it super simple.) Or you can use a site like NameCheap which allows you to buy really inexpensive domain names also.

★ Start writing: now it’s time to start sharing your thoughts with the world! Just log into your blog platform and start creating new content. Be sure to proofread carefully before hitting publish – you don’t want any typos or grammatical errors making their way onto your blog.

And that’s it! Just four simple steps and you’ll have a blog up and running in no time – and for very little money.

5. What equipment do you need for blogging

If you’re thinking about starting a blog, there’s one question you’re probably wondering about: what equipment do you need? Well, the answer may surprise you. You don’t need much! In fact, all you really need is a computer and an internet connection.

Of course, there are some optional pieces of equipment that can make blogging a bit easier. For example, a camera can help you take great photos to accompany your posts.

And if you want to record video content, you’ll need a microphone and video editing software. But these are all optional; you can definitely get by without them. So there you have it: all you need to start blogging is a computer and an internet connection. Everything else is optional!

6. How long should a blog post be?

There is no magic number when it comes to the perfect length for a blog post. However, if you want your readers to stick around, it’s generally best to keep things relatively brief. After all, most people’s attention spans are pretty limited these days.

That being said, there’s no need to go overboard and make every post super short. Just aim for something in the ballpark of 500-700 words and you should be good.

Of course, there will be times when a particular topic warrants a longer or shorter piece. But as a general rule of thumb, this is a good range to aim for.

So next time you sit down to write a blog post, don’t get too bogged down in trying to hit some arbitrary word count. Just focus on writing something that’s enjoyable and informative, and let the length take care of itself.

7. Where should you consider inserting calls-to-action throughout your blog post?

Blog posts are a great way to engage your readers and get them to take action. But where should you insert calls-to-action throughout your blog post? Here are a few ideas:

-At the beginning of the post, to encourage readers to keep reading

-In the middle of the post, to provide a break from all the text

-At the end of the post, to encourage readers to take action on what they’ve just read Inserting calls-to-action throughout your blog post can help to break up the text and keep readers engaged.

So don’t be afraid to experiment with different placements and see what works best for you and your blog.

8. How to outsource blog writing

If you’re like most people, you probably start your day by checking your email, scrolling through social media, and reading a few blog posts. But have you ever stopped to think about who actually writes all of those blog posts? Most likely, it’s not the author themselves, but someone they’ve outsourced to do the writing for them.

Outsourcing blog writing can be a great way to save time and energy. After all, why spend hours agonizing over a blog post when you could be spending that time on other tasks? And if you’re not a natural writer, it can be helpful to have someone else handle that part of the process for you.

Of course, outsourcing blog writing does come with its own set of challenges. It’s important to find a writer who understands your voice and style, and who can capture the essence of what you’re trying to say.

You’ll also need to provide clear guidelines and expectations for the project. But if you take the time to find the right person for the job, outsourcing blog writing can be a huge time-saver. We use a combination of Fiverr and AI programs such as Jasper and WordHero to help us in our blog writing efforts.

9. How much does it cost to hire a blog writer?

The cost of blog writing can vary depending on a number of factors, including the length and complexity of the blog post, the level of expertise of the writer, and the number of blog posts required.

However, as a general guide, it is possible to hire a blog writer for as little as $25 per blog post (or between $0.02 and $0.03 per word).

Of course, if you’re looking for someone to write an in-depth, research-backed blog post on a complex topic, you may need to pay closer to $100 per blog post. But for most businesses, the cost of blog writing falls somewhere in the middle. As such, it’s important to consider your budget and needs when determining how much to pay for blog writing services.

Final Thoughts

Creating a successful blog takes time and effort, but it’s definitely worth it in the end. Dream big my friends! I hope this post was helpful for any aspiring bloggers out there 🙂 Now go forth and write your heart out!
