America’s Home Place has some of the best model site-built homes available to tour. We recently visited their location in Oxford, Alabama and they did not disappoint. One of my favorite models that we saw was the “Hartford A”. I love a good modern farmhouse and this one is amazing.

This is by far the best Alabama Home you can build. The “Hartford A” is available in several other states as well. America’s Home Place builds throughout the southeast US as well as other select parts of the country.

Exterior Of This Alabama Home

The Exterior of the “Hartford A” has the perfect amounts of rustic charm and modern sleekness to create the perfect modern farmhouse.

The siding of the home is a crisp white board-and-batten in the front and vertical vinyl siding on the sides and rear of the home. There is a two-car garage attached on the right side of the home. Heading up the walkway to the front, I love the rustic wood pillars on the porch. They create a really eye-catching contrast. The front door is the same beautiful stain as the pillars and creates a very warm and inviting entryway.

Living Room

Entering through the front door, there is a spacious and airy living room awaiting. There is an option for a corner fireplace in this room, but it is a really nicely laid-out room either way. There are two large windows at the front on either side of the door providing lots of sunlight.

The floor plan in this home is split and the living room is really the center of the home. To the left is a hallway leading to two guest bedrooms and a bathroom. Straight ahead is the kitchen and dining room.

Then to the right is the master suite. We are going to head to the left and check out the guest bedrooms to start.

Guest Bedrooms/Bathroom

The guest bedrooms are located at opposite ends of the hallway with one at the front of the house and the other at the rear. Both bedrooms are the same size and quite roomy with plenty of space for a full or queen size bed. Both of the bedrooms also have nice-sized walk-in closets that are lined with wire shelving.

Between the bedrooms is a full bathroom with a long single vanity with extra counter space and a full set of cabinets below. The bathroom also has a shower/tub combo and a toilet (obviously).

Across from the bathroom is a surprisingly large hallway closet. I think this might be larger than the walk-in closets in the bedroom. It can definitely hold any linens you might have as well as the entire family’s winter coats.

Kitchen/Dining Room

Heading back through the living room, we are going to take a turn and check out the kitchen and dining room. The dining room is surprisingly large and has enough room for a table that could seat six or eight people. There is also plenty of room for a hutch or buffet table, possibly even both.

On the far side of the room is a closet. This home does have an option for a second floor and if that were in place, that closet would be the staircase leading to the second floor. The back of the room has an exterior door leading out to the back patio or deck.

The kitchen is connected to the dining room. There are two sections to this kitchen. There is an L-shaped section, which is the larger of the two. This has bar stool seating on one side, the other is lined with cabinets and drawers. It is also home to the double undermounted sink and dishwasher.

The other section of the kitchen is a straight line that also has lots of cabinet and drawer space. This side is home to the refrigerator, stove, and microwave.

Utility Room/Garage Access

The utility room is located just off the kitchen.  It does have its own door, so it isn’t just a separate area, there is a full laundry room. There is a washer and dryer hookup on one side of the room with shelving above. On the other side is additional storage space with multiple shelves. At the back of the room, is a door leading to the two-car garage.

Master Suite

To enter the master suite, we have to head back to the living room to enter the door to the right. The master bedroom isn’t super wide but it is a very long room. It has space for a queen size bed and a full bedroom set of furniture. If you are looking to have a king-size bed, I would definitely measure before assuming that there is space for that.

The master has a huge walk-in closet, complete with shelving all the way around. At the back of the closet is a set of shelves for shoes or purses, or whatever else you would put on shelves in your closet.

Easy DIY Projects to Add a Warm and Rustic Feel to Any Room

The master bathroom has a single vanity to the left just through the door. While there is only one sink, there is plenty of counter space and drawers for two people. There is also a giant vanity mirror above as well.

Opposite the vanity is a shower and tub combo with a plastic surround. At the back of the room is a large (and very relaxing-looking) soaking tub. To finish off the bathroom, there of course is a toilet and a linen closet that is lined with shelves.
