Redman Homes Modern Shotgun Style House

It has been quite some time since we last had the opportunity to tour anything from Redman Homes. I have certainly missed them and to be honest, Redman Homes take on this modern shotgun style house was well worth the wait. This is the “Willow Creek” and sometimes goes by the “Pontiac”. It features an open concept living area, with a spacious kitchen and 3 beautiful bedrooms.

Shotgun style house designs aren’t quite as plentiful as their typical ranch counter parts at most home centers. So I very much enjoy them when I run across on and have the chance to tour it. This beauty happened to be on display at Clear Creek Homes in Indiana and they were nice enough to let me share it with you.

This home can either be built as a manufactured home or a modular home depending on your preference and price point. As we are touring it today it is a modular home. The great thing about the shotgun style house design is that it is narrow, making it perfect for smaller lots. It also has a little bit of style, which is the case here with the Willow Creek. This beautiful Redmond home has a very nice stone façade that surrounds the two windows sitting on the front of the house.

To the right of that, is a beautiful covered porch with nice banister railings going all the way around it and at. All of this melds together with the lovely gable that rises up above them. 

Travelling down the long sides of the home there are several windows coming out of both the living room and the kitchen. On the opposite side of the home, these windows come out of all three of the bedrooms.

At the backside of the home you’ll find a sliding glass door that will lead out from your dining room. Here would be a great spot to put a very nice back deck just to hang out and enjoy the beautiful summer afternoons.

Secondary Bedrooms and Bath

To the left of the living room as you enter the home is a hallway leading to the secondary bedrooms. To the left you will come to the first bedroom which sits up towards the front of the house.

The room is very spacious measuring in at approximately 9ft 9in X 12ft 4in and has two large windows that are facing out the front of the home. They do a great job at providing a tremendous amount of natural light. 

In between the two bedrooms you will find the first full bathroom. It has a large single vanity, a toilet and a shower and tub combo.

The second of the two bedrooms sits at the end of the hallway, towards the back of the home. This bedroom is approximately the same size as the first, measuring in at 10ft 2in X 12ft 6in. It also has a large window, this time sitting on the side of the house. The bedroom also has a nice step-in closet as well.

Living Room

Okay, so I know we jumped straight into the secondary bedrooms. However, the first thing that you are greeted with upon entering the home is this great big open floor plan. The living room sits right up front as you enter the door.

The living room is very spacious with plenty of room for any number of furniture arrangements. There are three large windows that are placed around the room. This gives it a super bright and airy feel. The living room has a nice dark, rich vinyl plank floor that continues through the rest of the home.

Kitchen and Dining Room

Past the living room, sits an incredibly designed kitchen. The main kitchen counter is laid out in the shape of an “L”, with the peninsula separating the kitchen and living room. On the living room side of the peninsula is a raised bar with several spaces for seating.

On the opposite side of the peninsula, you will find a dishwasher and sink. Along the side wall, next to the peninsula, is the stove. There is a built in microwave siting just above it and both are surrounded by plenty of upper and lower cabinets and drawers.

A fantastic built in sits just across the kitchen. It has large decorative shelves on each side. In the middle, climbing up to the ceiling, are more cabinets. One of which, to my pleasant surprise, had a built in spice rack lazy susan!

Just passed the kitchen is the dining room. It has a number of windows running along the exterior wall and on the back wall, is the sliding glass door. The dining room itself is a great size with plenty of space for a large dining room table or maybe even one of those big round dining room tables. 

To the left of the dining room are two accordion style closet doors that open up to reveal your washer and dryer hookups. This space could also be used as a pantry. You could opt for a basement type foundation,  and place the washer and dryer in the basement.

Master Suite

Sitting in between the dining room and kitchen you will find the master suite. The bedroom sits towards the back of the house with several big windows and a great big transom window, over where I would imagine a bed would be placed. The room is a great size measuring in at approximately 11ft 7in X 12ft 6in, with plenty of room for a large king size bed and several dressers.

Sitting off to the left of the master bedroom, is the en-suite. Here you will find a large double vanity. It has a cute built in for towels or make up and several drawers. The en-suite features a great big walk-in shower as well and has a large oversized shower head.

At the back of the en-suite is the master closet. It has a heap of room for all the clothes a person could dream of. So I know there is a riff when it comes to these bathroom closets but for this shotgun style house, it makes sense from a space saving point of view.
