Introducing Zip Kit Homes | Home Tour
Zip Kit Homes builds and sells prefabricated homes that are shipped to the customer in a kit. The customer can then assemble the home themselves, or hire someone to do it for them. The benefits of Zip Kit Homes are that they can be assembled relatively quickly. Another benefit is that the customer has a lot of control over the final product, as they get to choose all of the materials and finishes.
I had the opportunity to tour their “Columbia” model while on a filming trip to Colorado. I took a 4 hour drive to Cedar City, Utah to visit Zip Kit Homes headquarters. Zip Kit Homes builds several different types of homes including smaller 800 sqft modular homes to large prefab home kits. They have a whole bunch of designs that are easily customizable to fit your needs.
If you are interested the model in this home tour, Zip Kit Homes can be found in: AZ, CO, ID, NV, UT and WY.

Zip Kit Home Exterior
The exterior of this ultra-modern prefab kit home is exquisite. I love all the different sidings that they used to create these nice boxy, clean lines. On the front of the home, you do have a two-car garage with a unique deck mounted up above it. It has a sliding glass door that comes right out of the main living space to allow for indoor-outdoor entertaining.
As you walk up to the home, you do have a recessed front entryway that leads into a two-story open to above foyer. Then moving your way around the side of the home, there is another entrance that leads into your two car garage.
As you get to the back of the home, you will notice a tremendous amount of windows that look into all the different bedrooms, as well as, another back door that leads into your utility room.
Stepping Inside This Prefab Home
As you step through the front door you are greeted with a beautiful two-story open to above foyer. The main focal point here, in the foyer, is of course the stairwell that leads up to the second floor. It has a beautiful I-beam running along the side of it as well as a multitude of wood accents both on the wall and on the stairs themselves.
Directly above the front door, on the inside of the home, is a nice catwalk. This catwalk leads from the master bedroom out onto the deck above the garage. From the foyer, you can access all the lower-level bedrooms as well as the laundry room and the two-car garage.
Secondary Bedrooms and Bathroom
The first of the three bedrooms, down here, sits just to the left of the front door, up towards the front of the home. It is a great big space measuring in at approximately 14ft 0in X 11ft 0in. This room can either be used as a bedroom or in office depending on your needs.
Personally, I think that it would make an exceptional office since it is so close to the front door, as well as, all the windows in here. It just gives you a nice, peaceful place to do some work.
Sitting between this bedroom and the next bedroom, with access from the hallway, is the first full bathroom. The bathroom features a futuristic floating vanity with under-mount accent lights. There is also a toilet and a shower and tub combo.
Past that, you will come to the second bedroom. This bedroom measures in at the same as the other bedroom that we just went over. This one, however, sits at the back of the home. It has a closet and a few other windows throughout the room.
Laundry Room and Garage
At the end of the foyer hall, there is a barn door that opens to reveal the laundry room. In here you will find washer and dryer hookups, as well as, the door leading out towards the back of the home. As you hang a right at the end of the foyer hall, you will find a mud room of sorts.
It has a great big built-in, more so like a drop zone. It has plenty of cubbies on the bottom the top. Then a bench and some hooks to hang up jackets and book bags and things.
Across the hall from that is a doorway that leads into a great big two car garage. Of course you can park your cars in here, but it also has extra space for storage. It is super neat in the fact that it feels as if the cars are inside of the home. More so because of how close the garage is.
Then, past the garage, you come to the final bedroom on the main level. This one is slightly larger than the other two measuring in at approximately 14ft 0in X 12ft 0in.
This room sits on the back half of the house, but unlike the other two bedrooms, this one does have a full en-suite. It features a floating vanity, a toilet and shower and tub combo.
Moving up the stairs to the main living areas and master bedroom, you are greeted with a nice landing. At the top of the landing, you will find a small little alcove with storage and a bench looking out a back window. This is just a cute, cozy reading space… not necessarily something you have to have in the home, but I thought it was a nice addition.
To the left of the stairwell, you will find the entry to the master bedroom. Just outside of that there is a half bath or powder room. It is separated by this hallway by a pocket door and features a toilet and a floating vanity.
As you walk into the master bedroom, it opens to reveal a stunning room sitting up towards the front of the home. It has tremendous amounts of windows and views from every angle. The room measures in at approximately 14ft 0in X 14ft 2in and has plenty of space for a large king or queen size bed, a couple night stands and even a dresser.
In the front corner you will find a doorway that leads out onto the catwalk that we mentioned earlier. This is a unique feature that gives you private access out onto the balcony.
At the back of the bedroom, you will find the en-suite. This beautiful bathroom has a floating double vanity with gorgeous under-mount lights, a standalone tub with a futuristic faucet (not that you have to have that faucet – of course you can pick any fixtures and finishes that you like). I just thought that that one was cool.
Then there is also a walk-in shower with a full tile surround. At the back of the en-suite there is a toilet alcove, as well as, a beautiful walk-in closet with plenty of built-ins and nice wood shelves. So you might not even need a dresser in the bedroom.
Dining Room and Living Room
Going back out to the stairwell, to the right, you will find a doorway that leads into the main living areas. This is my favorite space in the whole house. It is an open concept that features the dining room, living room and kitchen. Then at the front of the home there is access out onto that balcony.
Moving from the dining room into the living room, you will notice a beautiful fireplace, which is the focal point of the living room. Again, there are more windows here that allow you to take in the views from almost every angle of the home.
There is also plenty of space for any number of furniture arrangements.
Zip Kit Homes Stunning Kitchen
The kitchen sits at the back of this open living space and has a great big Island that seats 4. Along the back wall you have the main counter surface with a stove and range hood, as well as, the kitchen sink sitting just below a window. In the corner is a cool walk-in pantry with a reverse barn door.
