The modern farmhouse style home in this tour is the “Heritage”. It is a site built home by Schumacher Homes. You can find this modern farmhouse model on display in Charlotte, NC. The main highlights of this home include a gorgeous open floor design, covered back porch, and a huge master bathroom.
Schumacher Homes builds exceptional site built homes up and down the East Coast. They have several award winning designs as well as awards for their spectacular showrooms. The one approach that makes me love Schumacher is their model centers. Schumacher Homes is one of the few builders that offer you the opportunity to walk through not just one but several home designs at multiple locations. Easily accessible to everyone!

The exterior of the “Heritage” is what some may call AMAZING! Me, I you call it amazing. The front of the home is characterized by thre large gables. Two somewhat over lap while the other stands gloriously on its own. There are multiple windows on the front as well allowing beautiful natural light to flow through the home. The front door on the “Heritage” sits tucked snuggly within the two sides of the home.
As you work your way around to the back of the “Heritage” you will find more spectacular windows, especially near the living room and master bedroom. You will also see a large covered porch. A little side note here: I have seen a single covered porch with access from dining room and master bedroom as well as some models have an additional porch off the dining room.
The modern farmhouse version of the “Heritage is beautiful and incorporates all the traits one would expect with the modern farmhouse look. This includes white board and batten siding paired with black framed windows. There are so many more exterior options that are available though, including the coastal version pictured above, but also the modern hill country, craftsman and the classic version to name a few.
With most, if not all, Schumacher Homes this is the case. If you see a floor plan that you like but maybe not the biggest fan of the exterior look, just remember there are other options. After all these are dream homes. Well at least to me. I’d want it to look and feel exactly how I wanted.
Foyer and Flex Room
When you first step inside this cute modern farmhouse style home, you are greeted with an open foyer! It has beautiful views of the home including the living room and portions of the kitchen. To the left is a small hallway that will lead to the garage entry way as well as the laundry room.
To the right of the foyer is a flex room. In this home it was set up as an office, but being a flex room it is open to your imagination. The room is subtly divided from the foyer and living room by a corner pillar. This just gives it that right amount of separation but still staying true to the open concept design.
The flex room has a beautiful industrial light fixture that hangs down right over the desk and is definitely the focal point of the space. Behind the desk is a shiplap wall that matches the floors and a massive built in with floating shelves. The home really seems to focus on textures, as you see a variety of different ones played out in areas throughout the home.
From the office, the home continues with the open concept layout into the living room. The living room has three very stunning windows looking out over the back porch. To the left of the windows there is a floor to ceiling accent wall with room to mount your T.V. The only thing that is missing is the fireplace! The ceilings feel very tall and open and there is plenty of space to configure furniture in a number of ways.
Kitchen and Dining Room
From the living room, you have an unobstructed view of the kitchen in all its glory! This modern farmhouse style kitchen features a large over-sized island with beautiful quartz countertops. On one side you have plenty of space for seats and on the other side, your sink and dishwasher.
Behind the island is your stove and range hood, as well as a ton of counter space and plenty of cabinets for storage. One trend we have noticed that is very popular, and this home incorporates well, is the two toned cabinets.
With the two tone cabinets, the upper cabinets are one color and the lowers are a different color. This is something we incorporated in our own home when we refinished the kitchen and it just gives the space such a more appealing look.
On the far side of the kitchen you will find the dining room. It offers a gracious amount of space to put a large dining room table and a hutch or buffet table. Here you have the option to add an additional porch are off the back of the dining room by replacing the two window with some beautiful French doors.
From the dining room, we move out to the covered back porch, the entertaining hotspot in this home. There is definitely enough space out on the back porch to host your next cookout or garden party. It is a beautiful area that is just perfect for entertaining!
Secondary Bedrooms and Bath
Now going back inside of the house and moving across the kitchen, we are going down the bedroom hallway. Here, you will find the two smaller, but still quite large, bedrooms and a full bathroom.
The two bedrooms sit at the end of the hall, both facing the front of the house. The furthest bedroom is the larger of the two measuring in at approximately 11ft 0in X 11ft 0in and the second just a tad bit smaller at 10ft 0in X 10ft 0in.
The bathroom is really a nice size and fixtures are amazing also. I has a single vanity and a shower and tub combo. Its the perfect size for the two secondary bedrooms to share and conveniently located just off the main living space for when you are hosting guests. Now we move on to the crème de la crème of the home; the master suite!
The Master Suite
On the opposite side of this modern farmhouse style home is the master bedroom. The bedroom features huge windows that allow tons of natural lighting that really brighten up the space. There is also a beautiful tray ceiling and a weathered chandelier that really grabs your attention as you enter the room.
The best part of the room and what you are immediately drawn to, is the rustic accent wall at the back of the room behind the bed. It really changes the dynamic of the room by softening it and giving it a more homey feel. The room itself is a whopper! It is approximately 19ft 0in X 13ft 0in, offering plenty of room for a large king bed and several dressers and sitting space.
Now into the en-suite and master closets (that’s right there are two)!
The en-suite is easily directly off the master bedroom. Here you will find a luxurious work of modern art. This bathroom features a huge soaking tub with beautiful fixtures and a massive tiled walk in shower. Behind the tub and shower, you will find two massive walk-in closets and the water closet.
This modern farmhouse style home is beautiful and does a really good job of displaying modern style while feeling cozy and making it really feel like a home. What do you think of the home? I’d say it’s almost a farmhouse minimalist style home. Either way, I think it’s a sharp looking modern home.
Thank you so much for taking the time to tour with us. We hope you have a fantastic day and look forward to seeing your beautiful face in the next one!
